Bio

Isaura Melo, born in 1990 in Brazil, started her musical studies at the age of 8.

Graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève and Master's degree in Music Performance and Pedagogy from the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, Melo studied under the guidance of esteemed mentors such as Michel Bellavance, Philippe Racine, Haika Lübcke, Sabine Poyé-Morel, Patrick Gallois, Pamela Stahel, Sakura Kindynis, and Edson Beltrami.

In addition to the flute, Isaura also plays piano as her second instrument, having studied under Dominique Badoud during her Bachelor's degree and Eriko Kagawa during her Master's studies.

At the age of 17, Isaura was Finalist at the Young Soloists Competition Prelúdio, broadcasted by the Brazilian Television Cultura at the prestigious Sala São Paulo. She performed in front of the Preludio Orchestra the Carl Reinecke Flute Concerto and the Saverio Mercadante Flute Concerto in e Minor.

 

She won the coveted position as flutist in the Bayreuth Young Artists Orchestra in Germany, at the age of 17, being the youngest member of the ensemble. This was the beginning of her international career.

At age of18, she was honored with the Diploma of Merit from the Academia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, Italy, under guidance of Patrick Gallois.

In international competitions, Melo won the Special Prize from Loterie Romande at the 36th CNEM - Concours National d'Exécution Musicale Riddes in Switzerland, she was finalist of this same competition on it's 35th Edition, and won the Second Prize Laureate in the Zurich Contemporary Music Competition by the ZHdK.

As soloist, Isaura performed in front of the Uster Kammerorchester, Bachiana Philharmonic Orchestra São Paulo, Tatuí’s Wind Orchestra and others.

In the realm of orchestral music, Isaura has performed with illustrious ensembles including the Swiss Youth Symphony Orchestra, Symphonisches Blasorchester Schweizer Armeespiel, Symphonisches Blasorchester Tatui - Brazil, ZHdK Orchestra, among others, collaborating with worldwide esteemed conductors such as Bernard Haitink, Marc Kissoóczy, Ludwig Wiki, Benno Huber, Dario Sotelo, Yuri Simonov, and many others. 

Her talent was supported by prestigious institutions such as the Elsy-Meyer Foundation, C.-A. Kupper Foundation, Lyra Foundation, and Jean-Tanner Foundation.
